Hello Duffy Community,

This is our final edition of News from the PTO for this school year. The Board would like to thank the following parents involved in our year-end events:

Susan Lemkuil, Mary McCaffrey and their committee members have done a fabulous job leading the 5th grade events. From the parent/teacher basketball competition to class day, it is wonderful to send our 5th graders off to middle school with great memories.

The Duffy Fair is always a huge success thanks to Sharon Murray, Susan Nasby and their committee members. It takes a tremendous amount of planning and parent commitment to coordinate such a successful fair. We are grateful for their hard work each year as well as the hard work of many other parent volunteers.

Meg Murphy did a great job in coordinating our volunteer appreciation celebration at Rizzuto’s in Blue Back Square. We cannot thank our volunteers enough for they what they do. It was an exceptional evening!

In May, we elected a new PTO president, Shellie Giroux. I have enjoyed working with her over the past couple of years. She will do a great job as president. Congratulations Shellie!

Diane Bintz, Kathleen Costello, Donna Downes, Tracy Gibbons and Kim Heintz will step down from the Board this month. In countless ways, they all have done a wonderful job for Duffy and we wish them well! Kim and Donna will no longer have kids at Duffy and we will miss them in the Fall.

In closing, it was a pleasure to be PTO President this year. I have worked with many talented and dedicated people who do wonderful things for our school, our community and our neighbors. I came upon this quote recently and feel that it embodies the Duffy spirit. “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.” ~Dr. Seuss. Well, Duffy parents do care a lot!
